Email tyler@szakacsmedia.com. A real person reads it. If something is wrong with a number the app is showing, say which screen and roughly which shift, and include the app version from Settings.

Logging a shift

Tap the + button. Enter cash and credit together — Payday treats one closeout as one shift, however many entries it took. Hours, tip-out, and sales are optional, but the hourly and tip-percent numbers on Insights only appear once you have logged a few shifts with hours or sales.

You can also start a shift from the app, Control Center, the Home Screen, or Siri, and Payday times it and fills in your hours when you close out.

Adding shifts you already worked

Settings → Add Past Shifts lets you backfill history. Insights unlocks at five shifts, and the weekday ranges need at least eight shifts on a given day before Payday will state a range for it.

Why a number is missing

Payday leaves a number out rather than guess. A weekday range needs eight shifts on that weekday. The trend needs twelve shifts in each of two eight-week windows and a stable enough schedule to compare. Hourly rate needs hours logged, and tip percent needs sales logged. If a section is blank, the data does not yet support a claim.

Paychecks

Record a paycheck and Payday compares it against the shifts in that pay period, then names any gap — including overtime your hours earned that the stub did not pay. You can scan a stub with the camera; Payday reads it on device first and tells you before any photo is sent for scanning.

Sync and sign-in

Payday uses Sign in with Apple and syncs your shifts so they survive a lost or replaced phone. Sign in with the same Apple ID on a new device and your history comes back. The app works offline; changes sync when you are back on a network.

Widgets

Long-press the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap add, and search for Payday. The widget shows your pay period total and how you are running against your usual pace. It reads the same data as the app, so if they ever disagree, that is a bug worth emailing about.

Exporting your data

Open History and tap the share button for a CSV of every shift, which opens in Numbers, Excel, or Google Sheets. It is yours; export whenever you want.
