Privacy Policy
The short version. Payday needs an account, and it stores your shifts on its own servers so they survive a lost phone. You sign in with Apple, your tips and hours sync to a Payday database tied to that account, nothing is sold or shared, there are no ads and no tracking of any kind, and you can delete the whole thing from inside the app whenever you want.
Signing in
Payday requires Sign in with Apple, and there is no way to use the app without it. Apple provides your name and an email address. If you chose Hide My Email, that address is an Apple private relay and Payday never sees your real one. Your first name is stored so the app can greet you and so it reads the same on every device.
What Payday stores, and where
Everything you log is saved on your iPhone and also stored on Payday’s servers, hosted with Supabase, in rows tied to your account:
- Tip amounts, and the cash and credit split
- Hours worked, clock-in and clock-out times
- Tip-outs, sales, guest counts, and table counts
- Shift notes you write
- Shift dates, your pay schedule, and your hourly wage
- Paychecks you record
That is how the app works offline, keeps your history if you lose or replace your phone, and shows the same numbers in the app and in the widget. Every row is protected so that only your signed-in account can read it.
This is financial information about your own earnings, and it is treated as such. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not shared with data brokers, and not used to build a profile of you.
Insights runs on your phone
The Insights screen — your typical ranges, how your earning has been running, the week ahead, and every number in it — is calculated entirely on your device from data already there. It sends nothing anywhere and works with the network off. Earlier versions of Payday sent computed totals to an AI service to write summary text. That no longer happens.
Scanning a receipt
When you choose Scan receipt, Payday tells you before it happens that the photo is sent to OpenAI, and nothing is sent until you pick a photo or take one.
Payday first reads the image with Apple Vision on your device. It then sends a compressed copy of the receipt and the recognized text through Payday’s server to OpenAI, solely to pull out the shift fields shown for your review. Payday’s server does not save the receipt image or the recognized text, and OpenAI is not permitted to use it to train models. If you never use Scan receipt, no receipt image or text ever leaves your phone.
If you create an API key
Payday can issue API keys so your own tools or assistants can read and write your shifts. Requests made with a key are logged — the time, the method, the path, and whether it succeeded — so you can audit use of your own account. Deleting a key revokes it.
What Payday does not do
No advertising. No analytics, attribution, or tracking SDKs of any kind — the app’s only third-party code is the Supabase client used for your own account. Nothing is sold or shared for marketing. Payday does not track you across other apps or websites.
Deleting your account
Open Settings in Payday and choose Delete Account. It asks you to type DELETE to confirm, and offers to export your shifts to a CSV first, because deletion cannot be undone.
Deleting removes your account and every row attached to it from Payday’s servers immediately — not on a schedule, and not after a retention window — and wipes the copy on your phone at the same time. Payday keeps no backup and cannot restore it for you afterwards. Export first if you want to keep your records.
Deleting the app by itself only removes the copy on your phone. Use Delete Account if you want the server copy gone too. Full instructions are on the account deletion page.
Your rights
Szakacs Media LLC is the data controller for Payday. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to how it is handled. Export and deletion are both built into the app and need no request. For anything else, email the address below.
Children
Payday is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 13.
Changes
If what Payday collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. It is worth checking after a major update.
